Wyndham Travel Subscription

We've seen travel subscriptions launch for several airlines, like Frontier's “GoWild!” pass, Alaska's “Flight Pass,” and even JetBlue's “All-You-Can-Jet” pass back in the day. But we really haven't seen a travel subscription offered by one of the major hotel brands. Today, Wyndham has launched “Wyndham Rewards Insider,” giving members the ability to earn more Wyndham points, receive automatic status, and even earn a sign up bonus. Let's dig into all the details and see if this Wyndham travel subscription is worth it.

What is Wyndham Rewards Insider?

Think of Wyndham Rewards Insider as a paid service that grants you extra perks when you stay at Wyndham properties. Costing $95 per year (and early sign ups get two extra months free), members will receive:

  • Automatic Wyndham Gold status, normally earned after five nights
  • Concierge services
  • 10% or more off of rates at Wyndham
  • Earn and redeem points with Ticketmaster
  • Bonus points for booking other parts of your travels, like flights and cruises, through the service

There's also a 7,500 point sign up bonus. The program is now open for registration at WyndhamRewardsInsider.com.

Is Wyndham Rewards Insider Worth It?

To see if Wyndham Rewards is worth it, it's helpful to compare the subscription to Wyndham's credit card, the Wyndham Rewards Earner® Card. For a $0 annual fee, you'll receive Gold status, a 30,000 point sign up bonus when you spend $1,000 in the first 90 days, and bonus points for everyday purchases. Wyndham even status matches from other hotel programs, so you could potentially receive higher status than Gold without signing up for this program. With the similarly priced Wyndham Earner Business card ($95 annual fee) you could snag Diamond status, a 45,000 point welcome offer and 8x earning on Wyndham hotels and gas.

While the card doesn't come with specific discounts for Wyndham hotels, readers can likely find similar discounts, like AAA, senior rates, or corporate codes, that match or exceed the discounts offered by Wyndham Rewards Insider. Being able to redeem for Ticketmaster experiences sounds good on paper, but it's likely not a great redemption. We'll have to see what that is when the program launches.

Wyndham Rewards Insider: ToP Thoughts

While a program like this might sound appealing on paper, the cost is just too steep for the benefits. Pairing your Wyndham stays with the right credit card is not only more rewarding, it's more cost-effective. If you value discounts, perks, and bonus Wyndham points, with a bit of initial set up on your own, Wyndham loyalists won't need to sign up for Wyndham Rewards Insider. The nice thing is the 7,500 points does offset most of the cost in the first year if you wanted to kick the tires on the program yourself though. Let us know your thoughts about this Wyndham travel subscription over in the ToP Facebook Group.
