American Airlines Spring Promotion
As of March 1, 2026, we entered the 2026-2027 American Airlines elite status earning year. It's strange that it doesn't follow the calendar year, but sometimes it works in your favor in timing other spend at calendar year-end. Just in time for the new year, an American Airlines spring promotion is now live that can really help jumpstart those elite status earnings. Let's dive into all the details.
Spring Promotion
Once registered, you can earn up to 5,000 additional Loyalty Points (which is how you earn AA elite status these days) for travel during March and April 2026. You will earn:
- 500 additional LPs for every flight segment;
- 1,000 additional LPs for flight segments departing from/arriving to select airports in Mexico and Caribbean; and/or
- 1,000 additional LPs for flight segments booked by business travelers participating in AAdvantage Business or traveling on Corporate/Accredited Representative tickets.

General Terms & Conditions
The relevant terms & conditions are as follows:
- You must register in advance and by April 30, 2026
- Only eligible flights booked after registration are eligible
- You must complete your flight(s) after registration and by 11:59pm CT on April 30, 2026
- Flights booked in Basic Economy are ineligible
- Eligible flights are those that are marketed and operated by American Airlines or American Eagle and that earn AAdvantage Miles (i.e. award flights do not count)
- Loyalty Points will be awarded within 14 days after the eligible flight segment is posted to your AAdvantage® account
- All promotions and offers are intended for the parent/guardian who is 18+ years of age

Anytime you are chasing status, incentives to help you along the way are always welcome. Before diving in, make sure you evaluate whether status is right for you. While 5,000 bonus Loyalty Points might not be a tremendous amount of help, it IS helpful if it fits into your existing plans. In order to take advantage of this promotion, be sure to double-check your travel and rebook any existing flights in March/April after your registration, assuming the price does not increase.
