Chase Travel Booking Promotion

There is a new Chase Travel booking promotion that may make me eat my words on never booking via a travel portal. Not when the top end offers are giving you 2.25 cents per point! This is extra nice if you are booking a hotel that is not a part of any loyalty programs. Think of the independently owned hotels in maybe a more rural area or just a unique property in a touristy place. For flights, you can usually still add your loyalty info and earn points. That may be the get your cake and get to eat it too option right there. Let's take a look at the details of this offer and who it may make sense for (and who it won't).

Offer Details

It appears people are seeing this Chase Travel booking promotion on the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve card. The Reserve is seeing a higher offer, although it seems to vary some by person. People who recently signed up for either card may not see this promotion at all. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a lower offer on Freedom Flex cards etc. too.

  • From 3/31/2025 – 6/15/2025, each point you redeem through Chase Travel for stays at eligible hotels / flights completed by 12/31/2026 is worth $0.0175 – $0.0225 (depending on the card and offer you have)
    • If you choose to use points and your credit card to pay for your purchase, your credit card will be charged the full remaining dollar amount.

The formula for seeing how much a hotel or flight would cost in points is the hotel price / the offer rate. So, if the hotel / flight was $250 and you were targeted for the $0.0225 promotion rate you would do the following calculation, ($250 / $0.0225) to get a points cost of 11,111 per night / flight. Not too shabby, huh?

When This May Not Make Sense

While it will be tough for traditional hotel points to touch these valuations, except for maybe World of Hyatt points, it could still be a bad deal if they get close to the values. That is because you would be giving up traditional elite status perks and elite night earnings. You could also be giving up some bonus points or promo points earning. Just be sure to include all of this into your calculations before making the booking.

You will also want to reach out to the hotel to confirm your booking a day or two later. We have heard of people having issues with a portal booking not tracking at the hotel before. That is the risk you take when involving a third party though.

On the flights side of things, it is a more clear cut case because you can still earn all of your loyalty program goodies by adding your frequent flyer number to the booking. If checking flights you will want to see if it is less points booking it through the Chase Travel portal or by transferring points to the loyalty / partner airline program and booking it that way.

Outside of that this is a pretty good valuation for your Ultimate Rewards points. It is an especially great opportunity when it is for a non chain hotel or flight you were going to pay cash for anyway.

Chase Travel Hotel Booking Promotion: ToP Thoughts

It is weird that there have been no emails or an offer landing page for this Chase Travel hotel booking promotion that I have seen. ToP team member Devvon just happened to notice it when he was checking some Chase Travel portal rates for an upcoming trip today. If you have the Sapphire Reserve, and get the higher end of the offer promotion, then this offers a pretty tempting value for your hotel and flight bookings. Just be sure to run all of the numbers before committing your valuable Ultimate Rewards points.

Try to perform a search in the Chase Travel portal to see if you have this promotion on your account.
