10% Off Target Gift Cards

One of my favorite deals of the year is here, the 10% off Target gift cards sale. This used to be a points earning mecca back in its uncapped days. That was also when you could flip the cards easily at a small profit to boot. Now it is best for personal use and there is a cap per person. They cracked down on people trying to go above and beyond a few years back, clearing out the gift cards without initially refunding the charge, so it is best to play it safe on this one.

Details Of The Offer

Here are the details of the 10% off Target gift cards sale:

  • Get 10% off Target gift cards on up to $500.
    • You need to activate the coupon for the discount in your Target Circle app first.
      • This is how they are fighting people going over the limit
  • It should work online or in store, whichever you prefer
  • The offer is only valid December 2nd and 3rd

The nice thing is you can do it in multiple denominations. So 10 x $50 gift cards etc. or however you want to do it up to the $500 cap. That makes it a great gift giving option. If you think you can use more than $500, and have a two player household, then you can get up to $1,000. As long as they have their own Target circle account at least. If you have a college kid living at home then you are looking at $1,500 and so on.

Best Credit Cards To Purchase With?

It would be awesome if the Target RedCard 5% back stacked with this deal, but unfortunately it doesn't work on gift cards. I did a quick refresher of our 4th quarter 5% / 5x categories article and verified that Discover has 5% back at Target this quarter. If you have one of those then that is a great option, just be sure it is activated first. Same thing with Chase Freedom Flex if you can check out via PayPal to make the payment.

Otherwise, focus on a card with minimum spend still attached, one with a yearly spending bonus you still need to hit or a card that earns 2x or better on everything if possible.

10% Off Target Gift Cards: ToP Thoughts

I am always excited for the 10% off Target gift cards sale each year since their gift cards are not normally discounted. This is one of the ways I was able to live off of gift cards for a month and everything I bought was 10% – 20% off during that time frame. I plan on loading up on these once again, for me and my wife, and doing a lot of our shopping at Target over the next few months. I love that you can add the gift cards right into the app and don't need to bring them along with you when you shop. The space is needed in my wallet for all our credit cards!

Having said that, if you don't frequent Target much then this is probably a pass for you. Even if something is a great deal, it doesn't mean that it is a fit for you.
