Target RedCard Sign Up Bonus

The Target RedCard sign up bonus comes around pretty frequently and I think most people overlook it. I know we are all focused on miles, points and first class seats, but I wanted to point out some good features of the Target RedCard. And, no, I am not talking the 5% back you get at Target or the free shipping etc. Although, those are both pretty good perks. I am here to talk about the easy win the Target RedCard sign up bonus offers, even if it isn't as good as it used to be.

READ THIS about the recent changes to the offer and the devaluation to the sign up bonus that limits the value you can now get a bit.

UPDATE 2/7/24: A new $50 offer has returned.

Details Of The Target REDcard Welcome Offer

The bonus for the Target REDcard changes somewhat frequently, but it has been static the last year or so. The offer did jump up to $50 off of $50 last month but it is back to its normal offer this time around. Here are the current offer's terms:

  • Get a $50 off $50 Target discount
  • The card has no annual fee
  • 2/4/24 – 5/4/24 (HT DoC)
  • OFFER LINK

Card Perks

Some of the card perks are as follows:

  • 5% off every Target purchase at the store or online
  • Free 2 day shipping on most items on Target.com
  • RedCard exclusive offers

But Why Is This Offer So Good?

You may be wondering why I am writing about a $50 off offer. I mean that can't be worth a hard pull, right? Especially if you are trying to stay under Chase 5/24. You are correct, it is not worth burning a Chase 5/24 spot, or a hard pull for that matter. The great thing about this offer is you don't need to do either of those things. See, this offer is good for the Target RedCard Debit card, and not just the credit card. Which means NO hard pull! It is once again available for the Reloadable card as well so you can do the offer twice without a hard pull.

Target REDcard Sign Up Bonus

The Offer Is Only Worth $50 Now

You used to be able to double dip this offer (back when it was $40 off, for a total of $80 off), once in store and once online. But with the new set up, where you scan the coupon into your Target Circle app, it is no longer possible to double dip it. That may make this offer not worth chasing for some, especially with the long list of restrictions for the coupon.

I will probably still do it from time to time to grab some free stuff, since it only requires a cancellation call and a few clicks after that.

The Offer Is No Longer As Easily Churnable

You used to be able to get this offer every few months but they recently changed the rules on that. We are still not exactly sure what the time frame is now. Some suspect once every 6 months but we don't know for sure. If you give it a try please let us know in the ToP Facebook Group.

Target REDcard Sign Up Bonus FAQ

I wanted to put together some common questions we saw last go around so that we aren't answering the same questions over and over and so that everyone is on the same page:

When & How Does The Coupon Come?

For Debit card: The coupon will be mailed to the approved cardholders with their RedCard. You will have at least 30 days to redeem the coupon. See exact coupon expiration date on the back of the coupon. Must upload coupon to Target App and be fully enrolled in Target Circle™ to redeem coupon prior to the end of the coupon expiration date.

For the Reloadable card: To receive a $50 statement credit for the RedCard Reloadable Account, you must successfully register online at redcardreloadable.com for a new account, then activate the permanent card once received in the mail and spend $50 (net of reversals/returns) at Target (“$50 transaction”) within 45 days of registration. Purchases made with a virtual temporary card will not qualify. The statement credit will be posted to the account within 30 days of the $50 transaction.

What If My Discount Is Missing?

If you don't see the discount in your Target Circle App or a coupon in your mailer then you will need to contact Target.

When Does The Discount Expire?

You should get at least 30 days to redeem the discount.

Do I Need To Pay With My RedCard To Use The Discount?

No, you can pay for the overage after the coupon is used in any way you like, including Target gift cards.

Can I Stack Coupons On The Same Order?

This is no longer possible with the change on how the discounts are applied.

I Got This Last Time, Can I Do It Again?

You can, it is believed it needs to be 6 – 12 months since the last time you received the offer though.

How Do I Cancel?

You will need to call in on the debit card to cancel. It is best to do it late at night, they give you less of a hassle.

I Never Activated My REDcard, Do I Still Need To Close It First?

Yes, you need to close it first. You will need to activate the card and then call in to close it.

Can I Get All Types Of Target RedCards?

You can get the debit, Reloadable and credit version with the offer attached. Although it won't be worth the hard pull to get the credit card for most.

What If I Have The Credit Card, Can I get This?

Yes, these are all considered separate products.

Can Two People From The Same Household Do This Deal?

Yes, there is no household limit.

Can We Use The Same Checking Account As My Spouse?

No, do not use the same checking account for more than one RedCard account. This will cause issues and did last time for people that shared checking accounts.

Target RedCard Sign Up Bonus: ToP Thoughts

I figured it was worth pointing out some of these tips in case anyone was interested in a smaller, but super easy win. It is one of my favorite under the radar bonuses out there. I love that it is actually twice as good as they say and that you can get it somewhat fairly often. I always stock up on paper goods for the online order and then grab some food etc. with the in store portion. One thing I should point out is that there are a lot of limitations on the coupon so things like Nintendo and Lego are excluded. Having said that, I've never had an issue using them.
