Target REDcard Sign Up Bonus
The Target REDcard sign up bonus comes around pretty frequently and I think most people overlook it. I know we are all focused on miles, points and first class seats, but I wanted to point out some good features of the Target REDcard. And, no, I am not talking the 5% back you get at Target or the free shipping etc. Although, those are both pretty good perks. I am here to talk about the easy win the Target REDcard sign up bonus offers.
Update 1/13/22: The offer is ending tomorrow evening so be sure to grab this ASAP if you were planning on it.
Details Of The Target REDcard Welcome Offer
The bonus for the Target REDcard changes somewhat frequently, but it has been static the last year or so. Here are the current offer's terms:
- Get a $40 off $40 Target coupon upon approval (valid until 3/15/22)
- Coupon comes in the mail in the same envelope as the card.
- The card has no annual fee
- Offer valid 1/1/2023 – 1/14/2023
- Offer Link
Some of the card perks are as follows:
- 5% off every Target purchase at the store or online
- Free 2 day shipping on most items on Target.com
- REDcard exclusive offers
But Why Is This Offer So Good?
You may be wondering why I am writing about a $40 off offer. I mean that can't be worth a hard pull, right? Especially if you are trying to stay under Chase 5/24. You are correct, it is not worth burning a Chase 5/24 spot, or a hard pull for that matter. The great thing about this offer is you don't need to do either of those things. See, this offer is good for the Target REDcard Debit card and the Reloadable account too. It isn't just available on the Target REDcard credit card. The debit and reloadable card version do not require a hard pull and you still get the offer.
For the Target REDcard Debit card you just link it to one of your current checking accounts. For the Target Reloadable account you just need to get approved and then you load it at a register in store if you wanted to use it. The good thing is you can get both of those options too, as I currently do. I should say the Reloadable card is a much harder approval for some reason so you may want to try for that one first and then grab the debit version.
The Offer Is Really Worth $80, Not $40
Here is another interesting pointer for the Target REDcard sign up bonus, it is actually worth double what they say. That is because the coupon has an online code and a bar code for in the store on it. Both are unique codes so the bar code will work once in store and the online code will work once online. That means you can get $40 off $40 twice, or $80 in total. Getting better, isn't it?
The Offer Is Churnable
The last thing I wanted to point out with this offer is that you can get it more than once. This is on top of being able to get the debit and reloadable versions. You can get the REDcard sign up bonus multiple times, the only trick is you can't have a current version on the card you are going for. So if you have the Target REDcard Debit card you need to close it before applying. It is best to wait a few days after closing it to open a new one.
I have been able to get this offer a few times per year for both myself and my wife. Others do it even more often than me.
Target REDcard Sign Up Bonus: ToP Thoughts
I figured it was worth pointing out some of these tips in case anyone was interested in a smaller, but super easy win. It is one of my favorite under the radar bonuses out there. I love that it is actually twice as good as they say and that you can get it somewhat fairly often. I always stock up on paper goods for the online order and then grab some food etc. with the in store portion. One thing I should point out is that there are a lot of limitations on the coupon so things like Nintendo and Lego are excluded. Having said that, I've never had an issue using them.
