Staples Capital One Offers

I talk a lot about Chase Offers and Amex Offers but one I overlook is Capital One Offers. There is a new Staples Capital One Offers deal that looks like it will get you $50 in free stuff at Staples. I would buy something you need anyway just in case there are any tracking issues etc. The curious thing is I don't see a minimum spend requirement or anything. I ordered random school supplies I figured the kids would need, some printing paper and that just about did it for me. Pay close attention to the exclusions list, gift cards are of course on there.

Update 8/14/23: This deal ended a while ago (on 7/6/23) but the $50 credits are starting to post on accounts. Mine posted to my card on Friday 8/11. Check your accounts for the $50.

Offer Details

When logged into your Capital One account scroll to the bottom for Capital One Offers. Click there and check your account for the $50 Staples deal. It doesn't appear to be tied to a specific Capital One card, at least from what I can tell. It just says to use an eligible card, although I am not sure what wouldn't be eligible. It isn't the smoothest system. It does look like business cards have their own separate offer so I wouldn't use one of those.

Here are the terms at the bottom of the offers page: To redeem offers, use the links above and continue to the merchant’s website to make a qualifying purchase in the browser window that opens. If the purchase was made with your Capital One credit card, you’ll receive your savings as a statement credit on your card account within 3 billing cycles.

Once you select the offer you will see this on the next page.

  • Get up to $50 back as a statement credit on your Staples purchase.
  • To earn credit, click the button above and complete your purchase in the browser that opens. Purchases made through a merchant’s app will not qualify for the rebate.

Offer Terms and Exclusions

Merchant details

To earn the rebate you must make an eligible purchase at staples.com. Not eligible for purchases of gift cards, HP Printers, Ink and Toner, Tablets and E-Readers, Laptop and Desktop computers, or site to store orders. Not eligible for purchases made with coupon codes. To earn the rebate, you must be a Capital One cardholder or bank account holder, and logged in to your account on capitalone.com or the Capital One Mobile app.

How to receive the rebate

You will receive your rebate as a statement credit to your Capital One account within 3 billing cycles. Your account must be open and in good standing at the time the rebate is awarded to receive your statement credit. In the event you have more than one account, we may apply the statement credit to any active credit card or bank account that is open and in good standing. This offer is valid for consumer, non-commercial use only.

What is a qualifying purchase?

To make a qualifying purchase, you must click the button above, and then complete a purchase at the selected merchant’s site, in the window opened by the Capital One Offers tile, within 24 hours. Offer is not valid by any other method.

Use of other coupons, cash back, or promotional websites after selecting an offer and before making a purchase will invalidate your offer. Offer is not valid in-person or by telephone, and in-store pickup does not constitute a qualifying purchase. Purchases made without first being redirected by a Capital One Offers tile are not qualifying purchases.

How is the rebate calculated?

Rebate is calculated using the subtotal amount of your eligible purchase, which excludes taxes, shipping, credits, and other fees. A statement credit earned through this offer is in addition to any rewards regularly earned with your card. If you return or cancel an otherwise qualifying purchase, you are not eligible for a statement credit. Credits for subscription services are only awarded to new customers in their first billing period after the merchant has confirmed your payment has processed. Credits are not available on trial memberships, unless otherwise stated.

Staples Capital One Offers: ToP Offers

This is a pretty great offer, especially if you need some back to school supplies for next month. Be sure to click through the portal first to trigger it and use a personal Capital One card to make the payment. Hopefully the $50 statement credit should post no problem within a few weeks. I have never used Capital One Offers so I can't give you a data point on average timeframe. Hopefully someone in the ToP Facebook Group can chime in on that.
