Anytime a hotel program offers extra perks or benefits we always take notice. Kimpton has a longstanding tradition of periodically releasing a “secret password” that unlocks access to special perks. The Kimpton brand seems to be getting even more attention this year attention due to the Chase Edit hotel credit and ability to stack with the Select Hotel $250 credit. Since many Kimpton properties are part of The Edit and as part of IHG, Kimpton properties are eligible for the Select Hotel $250 credit as well. So, what is this secret password all about?
What Is It?
Kimpton hotels, a brand of boutique-style hotels within the IHG Hotels and Resorts portfolio, has a fun perk where they occasionally release a “secret password”. If you say that password at check in it can lead to some fun extra perks during your stay. As Kimpton says, “just say the password at check in and enjoy a special surprise, thoughtfully curated to kick off your stay in true Kimpton fashion.” While often you'll hear people refer to it as the “secret” password, Kimpton officially uses the name “social password” when referring to it. Usually they release the “social password” on their Instagram page. The timing seems to be random, and a password is not always available. When they do release one, it usually it last for a few months at a time. It is worth noting recently data points (DP's) in the group used the old password recently and some hotels still honored it so that is something to keep in mind too.

It can vary by hotel and location. Some may have a fun wheel to spin. Some may just give you something such as free drinks, a Food and beverage credit, or even free parking. We have seen all kinds of fun things reported.
