Here are the offer details for the Amex Business Checking offer

  • Earn 35,000 Membership Rewards® points after you:
    • Open your first American Express® Business Checking account.
    • Deposit a total of $5,000 or more within 30 days of opening your first account, and
    • Maintain an average account balance of $5,000 for the next 60 days, starting on the date your eligible deposits reach $5,000, and:
    • Make 5 or more qualifying transactions within 60 days of opening your account.
  • After completing all qualifying requirements, the Membership Rewards points should be credited to the Membership Rewards account linked to your Business Checking account within 8–12 weeks. Your Business Checking account must remain open when the welcome bonus is fulfilled.

Offer Terms

Here are some terms for the Amex Business Checking offer that you should be aware of:

  • “New money” is defined as deposits that are not deposited from any other American Express deposit account you own and are not deposited using the Redeem Membership Rewards® Points for Deposits feature. Interest payments also don't count. Eligible deposits must post and appear in your available balance within the 30-day funding period.
  • “Qualifying transactions” are defined as mobile deposits, check deposits by mail and electronic/online transactions, including ACH, Wire, and Bill Payments made to or from your account. Business Debit Card transactions and deposits using our Redeem Membership Rewards points for Deposits feature are not qualifying transactions.
    • Transfers between Amex Business Checking accounts held by the same business, transfers to or from other American Express deposit accounts you own, Zelle® payments, and stop payments also don't qualify. Qualifying transactions must post and appear in your available balance within 60 days of opening the account.
  • You are not eligible to earn a Welcome Bonus for any accounts opened for a business that currently has or has had an American Express® Business Checking account.

Amex Business Checking Offer: ToP Thoughts

The Amex Business Checking offer is solid, though not as high as previous 50K-75K targeted offers we've seen. The interest rate, debit card earning (although many can do better with Discover) and the option to cash out points at 1 cent a piece with an eligible Business Platinum Card could be useful for some. Especially since the online cash out option is back to working again. We do love that the bonus is fully transferrable Membership Rewards points too.
