American Airlines Loyalty Points Promotion
There is a new American Airlines loyalty points promotion that you should check your accounts for. It should make earning status a heck of a lot easier, at least if that interests you. I checked both of our accounts (Gold and Platinum Pro status levels) and we did not see the offers on either account. I would imagine people without status are more likely to be targeted, but that is just a guess on my part.
Offer Details
There are three different (at least so far) options for the American Airlines loyalty points program offer:
- If you earn 40,000 Loyalty Points (enough for AAdvantage Gold), you receive 35,000 bonus Loyalty Points (getting you to AAdvantage Platinum), or you can instead gift AAdvantage Gold to someone else
- If you earn 75,000 Loyalty Points (enough for AAdvantage Platinum), you receive 50,000 bonus Loyalty Points (getting you to AAdvantage Platinum Pro), or you can instead gift AAdvantage Platinum to someone else
- If you earn 125,000 Loyalty Points (enough for AAdvantage Platinum Pro), you receive 75,000 bonus Loyalty Points (getting you to AAdvantage Executive Platinum), or you can instead gift AAdvantage Platinum Pro to someone else

Here Are Some Notable Terms For The Offer
There are a few terms of the American Airlines loyalty points promotion you should be aware of:
- Registration is required by May 23, 2025
- The reward is based on the Loyalty Points earned during the current AAdvantage program year, between March 1, 2025, and February 28, 2026
- All eligible Loyalty Points earned during the period count toward the offer, including those earned through credit card spending
- After completing the requirements, you have 60 days to choose your reward (bonus Loyalty Points or the ability to gift elite status)
- The bonus Loyalty Points will be applied toward the 2025 program year if the selection is made before February 28, 2026, while they’ll be applied toward the 2026 program year if the selection is made after that date
- If you choose to gift status, it’ll be valid through February 28, 2027
American Airlines Loyalty Points Promotion: ToP Thoughts
This is a pretty tempting offer if you were targeted for it. It would make me consider chasing American Airlines status even if that wasn't in the plans already. Although, you still need to crunch the numbers and make the best decision for yourself. Chasing status just because it is easier will never make sense. If you only fly American Airlines once or twice a year then you should give this offer a fly by. On the other hand, if you fly American Airlines often – and maybe just grabbed that increased business card offer – then this could be pretty intriguing.
