The Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express offers bonus cash back on certain categories without having an annual fee. This makes it a good option for those looking to avoid paying an annual fee but still looking to earn some bonus cash back.

Current Offer

Currently, the Blue Cash Everyday card offers the ability to earn $200 back after spending $2,000 in purchases within the first 6 months. The card does not have an annual fee.

The Blue Cash Everyday card is a credit card and not a Pay Over Time card, so it counts towards Amex's limit of five credit cards..

Earn Rate

The Blue Cash Everyday card earns 3% cash back on your first $6,000 of purchases per year in each of the following categories: U.S. supermarkets, U.S. gas stations, and online retail purchases. After the reaching the $6,000 annual cap, the card earns 1% cash back on each of those categories. The Blue Cash Everyday card also earns 1% cash back on all other purchases. Cash back comes in the form of Reward Dollars that can be redeemed for statement credits. You can redeem whenever your Reward Dollars available balance is $25 or more.

Keep in mind that Amex cash back does not convert into Membership Rewards points. This differs from Chase and Citi, where you can convert the cash back earned on some cards into Ultimate Rewards or ThankYou Points.

New benefits to this card include up to $15 per month in statement credits for Home Chef Meal Solutions and $7 per month after spending $13.99 or more each month on an eligible subscription to the The Disney Bundle (enrollment required).

Our Analysis

The Blue Cash Everyday card is a decent cash back card without an annual fee and lots of new perks. The 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets and U.S. gas stations is nice, but where the card really shines is 3% cash back for online retail purchases. While there are exclusions in the “online retail purchases” category, travel being a notable exclusion, it does work for most other types of online retailers, such as Lowe's. Most everyone shops at eligible online retail stores throughout the year and 3% cash back is a nice perk. The downside to these categories is they are capped at $6,000 spend per year. Additionally, it is rare to find a no annual fee card with benefits or credits. But if you maximize this card's new perks, you can receive up to $264 in statement credits every 12 months.

But not all is great with this card. Other than 3 categories, this card earns only 1% cash back.  There are plenty of no annual fee cards that earn higher cash back with no categories to remember. For example, the Citi Double Cash (review) earns 2% cash back on every purchase, not just on a couple of categories.

Final Thoughts

The Blue Cash Everyday card is a no annual fee card with up to $264 per year in statement credits. It earns 3% cash back in 3 categories, including online retail purchases. If you have high spend at U.S. grocery stores, U.S. gas stations, or online retail stores and you subscribe to Home Chef Meal Solutions, this is a great card for your wallet.
