Refer Sapphire Preferred To Sapphire Reserve

Chase has been a busy bee today. First, they announced that the Chase Ink Cash and Chase Ink Unlimited offers are ending soon. They currently have all time high offers that look to be dropping by about 15,000 points in the near future. That is if they match the new referral offers for the cards at least. Now Chase has unlocked referrals on the Sapphire product family. They have even more news coming out that we will cover tomorrow too. I am exhausted! But, before that, let's get back to one of the more popular questions in the group, can you refer Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve and vice versa? Until now, the answer was a disheartening no. Today though, we get to say YES!

Refer Sapphire Preferred To Sapphire Reserve

Details On Sapphire Family Product Referrals

One of the more confusing decisions on Chase's part was not allowing people to refer Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve. You could only refer to the card you had in your account, the Sapphire Reserve or Preferred. This was really strange because that is not how they had it set up for the Ink or Freedom family.

If you had an Ink Cash, Ink Unlimited or Ink Preferred etc. you could refer to any Ink card. Same for the Freedom Flex, or Unlimited. The referral link you would create would work for either Freedom product. No matter which option the friend or family member signed up for, you would get the same referral bonus. This is similar to the system that Amex has, although their system is much more flexible.

Today it was noticed that the Sapphire Preferred referral pulled up the Preferred AND the Reserve cards. That is an interesting improvement that I think many will be happy about. I know people were always annoyed when a friend or family member wanted the Sapphire card that wasn't in their wallet.

Refer Sapphire Preferred To Sapphire Reserve: ToP Thoughts

This is a good change on Chase's part. Being able to refer your Preferred to Reserve, and vice versa, is more rewarding to their cardholders. It is also now in line with what they offer with the Ink and Freedom families. Hopefully this puts some extra Ultimate Rewards in your pocket when friends and family come a calling.
