Mr & Mrs Smith Properties Earn Bonus Points

While the Mr & Mrs Smith launch into the World of Hyatt program didn't go as we all had hoped, there was one really strange thing mixed in. The fact that Mr & Mrs Smith properties wouldn't earn bonus points with the World of Hyatt and World of Hyatt Business credit cards. That was strange, since World of Hyatt actually owned Mr & Mrs Smith properties. This wasn't a partnership like SLH was.

The points earning tidbit was a bit buried a bit from the headlines. The negatives people were focusing on was the lack of elite perks for stays and dynamic award pricing that offered value well below Hyatt's own hotels. The fact that the Hyatt co-branded cardholders would only earn 1 point per dollar was another hit for sure though. Especially since many people would be booking these hotels with cash instead of points, because of the aforementioned poor redemption rates.

It appears like Hyatt may have just been working out the kinks though. They reached out to let us know that this is now right as rain. Mr & Mrs Smith properties will now earn bonus points when paying with your World of Hyatt and Hyatt Business credit cards. They will rack up 4x points per dollar just like any other Hyatt hotel.

While this is a small win, it is a win for us points earners and Hyatt loyalists. If you happen to find a decent cash rate on a Mr & Mrs Smith property you no longer have to feel like you are leaving value on the table by busting out your Hyatt logoed credit card. You can now enjoy that swipe! Well, at least until it is time to pay that credit card statement that is.
