Hyatt & Venetian Las Vegas Partnership
I was wondering where the Venetian and Palazzo would end up turning for a partnership after IHG recently pulled out. Marriott was a non starter because of their new partnership with MGM (which came at Hyatt's expense), and Hilton already has a ton of coverage in Las Vegas. That left Hyatt as the most logical choice for a Venetian Las Vegas partnership, and it fits a whole lot better than IHG ever did. Hyatt lost a lot of rooms in Las Vegas with the end of the MGM partnership and just scooped up the largest hotel in Vegas (the US actually) to replace it. This also seems like a better fit for their loyal customers compared to their other option in town at Rio.

ToggleUpdate 1/9/25: This partnership is now live, but it isn't very good. Details below.
Initial Thoughts Now That The Hyatt & Venetian Las Vegas Partnership Is Live
I had hoped that this would be a decent option for using Hyatt points in Las Vegas. Something in line (price wise) with what they had set up with the Bellagio when they were partnered with MGM. That doesn't appear to be the case, at least not for redemptions. This is more in line with Mr & Mrs Smith properties, although even worse than that.
On the positive side of things, this will be useful if you had some stays planned at the Venetian or Palazzo on a future Las Vegas trip. You should be able to earn points on the stay and anything billed back to the room, which is a plus. The downside is that it looks like you need to book through Hyatt, and not Venetian, but more on that below.
The other good news is that it will also be a World of Hyatt option for the Brand Explorer perk under More to Explore category (where Mr & Mrs Smith is located).
Points Values
Now for the bad news. I did some searching the points values are pretty terrible. On top of that, a lot of nights were not available for awards and there was no award calendar available like with other Hyatt hotels. The values were showing mostly below one cent per point for award bookings. That just is not a viable option for your Hyatt points. Here is one example for this upcoming June.
Charging 61,000 points for a $533.86 room is just not going to cut it. It gets even worse if award nights / Globalist members end up getting waived resort fees, as that is $100 of the cost above. I wish they would have made it a set category hotel like they did with MGM, but it appears it is a dynamically priced option like Mr & Mrs Smith properties are. If you are looking for decently priced award nights in Vegas then the Rio is still going to be your best option. That is unless you can get a good cash price at the Palazzo or Venetian.
What Hyatt Members Will Earn On The Stays
Here are the details on what World of Hyatt members can expect to earn on a Venetian or Palazzo stay in Las Vegas (from the press release). It does appear that it will require you to book through Hyatt, which may not be best for gamblers in the Venetian Rewards program. Maybe you could add your World of Hyatt number at check in like you used to be able to at MGM, but that seems unlikely at this point. (I have confirmed that you will need to book through Hyatt to earn points / elite night credits)
Elite members can enjoy even more with qualifying stays booked through Hyatt, including:
- 5 Base Points per eligible $1 USD spent on rooms and resort fees and at 20+ participating restaurants and bars, select retail locations at The Venetian and The Palazzo when charged to your room (alcohol, taxes and other exclusions apply)
- 4 Bonus Points per eligible $1 USD for World of Hyatt Credit Cardmembers on eligible spend when charged to your room
- Standard tier Bonus Points for elite tier members on eligible room rates and resort fees and eligible spend at participating restaurants and bars, and select retail locations at The Venetian and The Palazzo when charged to your room
- Credit toward earning tier status and Milestone Rewards
- Redeem points for free nights at The Venetian and The Palazzo as well as 1,350+ Hyatt hotels globally
- On-property benefits for elite members from The Venetian Resort, like Invited Guest check-in; late checkout and early check-in (pending availability), suite upgrades (pending availability); and discounts on gondola rides and select retail locations.
I have confirmed that Globalists will not get breakfast of any kind at this time. They will also not get waived resort fees, but all award stays will have the award fees included with the award.
Details For The New Licensing Agreement
Here is what Hyatt had to say about the new Venetian Las Vegas partnership in their press release:
Soon, World of Hyatt members and eligible meeting and event planners will be able to earn and redeem loyalty points on qualifying stays, earn credit toward the Brand Explorer Award and, for World of Hyatt elite members, enjoy additional on-property benefits. With this long-term licensing agreement, Hyatt will offer more choice for rewarding travel experiences and stays in the all-suite resort at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip…
…The licensing agreement with The Venetian Resort Las Vegas adds 7,000 rooms and 2.25 million square feet of meeting space, inviting Hyatt's loyalty members and valued customers to have even more options to earn and redeem loyalty points when visiting Las Vegas.
The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, home to two luxury hotels – The Venetian and The Palazzo – is the only all-suite resort on the Las Vegas Strip. Combining the romance of Venice with the vibrant energy of Las Vegas, this iconic destination offers an experience that delights all the senses. Whether strolling along picturesque canals, enjoying a gondola ride, savoring culinary masterpieces crafted by some of the most celebrated chefs and restaurants on the Strip or experiencing world-class entertainment, including the revolutionary Sphere at The Venetian, World of Hyatt members will soon be able to earn and redeem points at this extraordinary resort.
Hyatt & Venetian Las Vegas Partnership: ToP Thoughts
While the Rio in Las Vegas is a great option for people looking to rack up elite night credits for World of Hyatt status, because it is often very cheap, it never quite felt like a good match for the Hyatt brand. It felt like a scramble, and reach, after they lost the much more aspirational MGM Resorts properties.
Kind of in the same situation, the IHG brand always felt a bit out of place with the Venetian and Palazzo hotels. This time around it is because the Las Vegas property was much nicer than the majority of IHG properties. The pieces just didn't fit!
The Hyatt & Venetian Las Vegas partnership just feels right in terms of the level of the property. The Venetian and Palazzo hotels are some of the more beloved properties in Vegas, even before their recent $1.5 Billion in renovations too.
One interesting aspect of all of this is that IHG claims they never really made any kind of money off of their partnership with the Venetian Las Vegas. I wonder if Hyatt has negotiated better terms that should benefit them more?
