Hyatt & MGM Are Ending Their Partnership
I brought you good Hyatt news just a bit ago, with their newest 20% back on award stays promo, and now for some bad news. Hyatt & MGM are ending their partnership. This is a big loss for Vegas lovers and Hyatt status chasers. The partnership allowed people to earn Hyatt points on their stays in Vegas, as well as, gave Hyatt members some cheap elite night credits via Excalibur and Luxor. I know both played a large role for some for the Bilt & Hyatt promotion that is still ongoing.

ToggleInformation On The Partnership Ending
Here is some information from the PR team:
The relationship between MGM Rewards and World of Hyatt is ending effective September 30, 2023. This means World of Hyatt members will no longer be able to make new reservations at participating MGM Rewards destinations in Las Vegas through Hyatt channels (e.g., http://Hyatt.com, Hyatt Global Care Center, or the World of Hyatt mobile application) on or after September 30, 2023.
All existing reservations and any reservations made prior to September 30, 2023 at participating MGM Rewards destinations in Las Vegas booked through Hyatt channels (e.g., http://Hyatt.com, Hyatt Global Care Center, or the World of Hyatt mobile application) will be honored. However, World of Hyatt points and World of Hyatt Tier-Qualifying Nights will not be earned for stays with checkout dates after September 30, 2023.
Similarly, MGM Rewards members will no longer be able to elect to earn MGM Rewards Tier Credits for dollars spent at Hyatt hotels and resorts for stays with checkout dates after September 30, 2023. MGM Rewards members who have tier matched into World of Hyatt between March 1, 2023 and July 14, 2023 will retain their World of Hyatt tier status through February 29, 2024. World of Hyatt members who have tier matched into MGM Rewards between February 1, 2023 and July 14, 2023 will retain their MGM Rewards tier status through January 31, 2024.

Hyatt & MGM Are Ending Their Partnership: ToP Thoughts
I think the Hyatt Globalist ranks will be thinned a bit by this news. It was fairly easy to rack up elite night credits on the cheap via this partnership. That will make some World of Hyatt members happy and others will be pretty sad by this news. I guess you should get it while the getting is good.
On the other side it gives people that frequent Vegas, and are loyal MGM Rewards fans, a bit less options for booking and earning on their stays. Weekends in Vegas have been crazy expensive as of late, and World of Hyatt point bookings have actually started to make sense at time. They never used to pre-covid, outside of massive event dates.
This is also the end of easy MGM Rewards Gold status for some which avoided hefty resort fees on Vegas stays.
I have to wonder if Marriott will slide into place here. They are linked with Cosmo, who MGM bought a little while back. They still have that partnership running, at least for now. Could it be expanded, or is MGM not looking to partner up at all?
