Frontier Status Match
If it seems like every airline is taking swipes at the hot mess that is Southwest Airlines right now. It is because they are! The newest one to shoot their shot is Frontier Airlines. They decided to offer some pretty nice perks for ALL Southwest fliers. The fact that it is good for pretty much everyone makes this Frontier status match offer one of the easiest ones I have ever seen. While people thumb their noses at low cost carriers, the Frontier Gold status this match comes with offers some nice perks.
Offer Details
Here are the details of this Frontier status match:
- For a limited time, Southwest Rapid Rewards members can try Frontier Elite Gold Status.
- Have to have joined Rapid Rewards before April 16th, 2025
- The Instant FRONTIER Miles Elite Gold Status offer provides eligible and approved members Frontier Elite Gold Status through December 31, 2025.
- $40 application fee applies
You do not need to have status with Southwest Airlines already, which makes this status match unique. You just have to have had a Rapid Rewards account set up prior to 4/16/25.
Notable Terms
Here are some notable terms for the Frontier status match:
- All applicants must be current members of the FRONTIER Miles℠ program.
- If you're not currently enrolled, you may do so here.
- Eligible members must hold a valid Southwest Rapid Rewards membership (joined Rapid Rewards before April 16th, 2025) and provide details.
- The FRONTIER Miles Elite Gold Status offer is valid for purchase for a limited time. The offer may change or be withdrawn at any time, including but not limited to the fees and validity period.
- All fees, which are subject to change at any time without notice, will be marked and shown before any payments are collected.
- Once your FRONTIER Miles account has been upgraded to Elite Gold Status, no refunds are permitted under this offer.
- The upgrade to the member account will be processed within 24-48 hours.
- Members must use the same email address associated within their FRONTIER Miles account to apply for on the Elite Gold Status offer.
- Members may be asked to provide additional identification before activating purchased services or products.
- Purchasing this offer will not extend any existing Frontier Elite Status.
- Members who have previously done a Status Match are eligible for this offer if they meet the criteria.
I like that people that have previously done a Frontier status match are not excluded from this offer.
What Does Frontier Gold Status Get You
Here are the perks that you will get with your newly minted Frontier Gold status:
- 14x miles per dollar earning rate
- No change / cancel fee +7 days from departure
- Family pooling
- Free carry-on bag
- Preferred seat at booking (for member)
- Premium seat at check in (for member)
- Complimentary upgrade to Upfront Plus seating (4 hours from departure)
- Zone 1 boarding
- Zone 2 boarding for member and up to 8 others traveling on the same reservation
The carry-on bag and seat selection should more than cover the $40 cost after one trip for most people. Having Frontier Gold status makes flying the airline feel like a legacy carrier etc. in terms of fees and comfort.

Frontier Status Match: ToP Thoughts
Most years I would jump all over this Frontier status match, but I don't have any planned Frontier Airlines travel the rest of the year. I have flown them at least one time most years, but this year is a bit of an anomaly. Although, I do have a few more flights left to book, so I'll have to see what kind of coverage they have for those.
If you have at least one flight with Frontier then I think this is worthwhile to pursue. You would likely break even on the $40 cost after that first flight. Then everything after that is gravy!
