Derrick even tried to pay his himself and had the same error pop up. Our data points all are dealing with the Chase Ink Preferred, Chase Ink Cash and Chase Ink Unlimited cards. Facebook Group member Mike B. reached out to let me know he ran into the same issue but figured out a fix. He added his Chase Ink Cash card to his PayPal account first. Then he checked out using PayPal, selected his Ink card and the payment went through no problem. Derrick had success as well after using PayPal when paying direct produced the error above.
Chase Card Denied When Paying Taxes: ToP Thoughts
I tried to reach out to Chase on Twitter but their social media team was no help on figuring out why this is happening. I have to imagine it is some sort of a glitch since the card works when using PayPal. Unless going through PayPal that is changing the processing, and coding, enough to get it around a block or something Chase has in place right now. My guess is it is one of those two things, but hopefully it goes back to normal at some point soon. Please share any data points you have on paying your taxes with a Chase personal or business credit cards on Twitter or in our Facebook Group.
