Ding dong! The witch is dead! Maybe I took that too far, but the worst application rule in the business is no more. Yes, you heard that right, the annoying Cardless one card per lifetime rule is donzo. We have it double confirmed! There are new Cardless application rules you should be aware of though, so let's get into it.

ToggleApproval For A Second Cardless Card
Last week ToP team member Matt P. was eyeing the Avianca Cardless card and it's large bonus and rewarding card perks. The only problem was that he already had the Qatar Cardless card, which meant he should be ineligible for all Cardless cards – for eternity. He did some digging into the offer terms, as a good ToP person would, and noticed that there was nothing in there about only being able to get one card for-ev-er in there. He decided to give it a shot because of that, but didn't really expect much to come of it. Unsurprising to him he was greeted with the application in review message after submitting the application. At that point he assumed a decline was coming his way. Fast forward to this week and he was surprised to see a congratulations email from Cardless slide into his inbox. He had cracked the code – he was now a proud owner of the Avianca AND Qatar Cardless cards. Was this only for the Avianca card though? We needed more details.
I reached out to Cardless customer service to verify this information. They responded this morning confirming Matt's experience and said the Cardless one card per lifetime rule was no more. There were some new rules in place of it though.
New Cardless Application Rules
Here is what the email response was for my questions about the Cardless one card per lifetime rule:
Thanks for reaching out! We now support opening a second Cardless card. You’re welcome to apply and be considered for another card. Please note:
- The application must be 60 days after your most recent card approval.
- The application must be 45 days after a recent card decline.
- You can only have one card per brand.
- You cannot already have the same card.
These are much more understandable Cardless application rules. I expect them to see an influx of credit card applications this week. The question remains – is there a two card Cardless cap? That is the way I read the initial response, but we will have to see how that plays out.
Just remember that these are personal cards and they will count against your Chase 5/24 status. Because of that it is best to wait to apply until you are over 5/24.
Cardless One Card Per Lifetime Rule: ToP Thoughts
I love being the bearer of good news. Especially since it feels so infrequent these days. Seeing the Cardless one card per lifetime rule end is great news for us miles and points folks. Especially as they continue to expand in more international airlines and are offering decent perks with their cards. I do wish I still had my New Orleans Pelicans card though!
Let me know what you think about these changes with Cardless over in the ToP Facebook Group.
