Wyndham To Caesars Status Match

Some bad news came out over the weekend. It appears that the terms have been updated for the Wyndham Business Earner card, which means that the Wyndham to Caesars status match is kaput for cardholders. This has been one of the few remaining options to get the casino & cruise status match game going. Over the years, Caesars Rewards has made it harder and harder to match into their Caesars Diamond status. They even eliminated many of the perks that you get when you matched into Caesars Rewards Diamond status. We knew this was coming and have just kind of been waiting for this credit card status match shoe to drop the last few years.

Updated Wyndham Earner Business Credit Card Terms

Here are the updated terms for the Wyndham to Caesars status match via the Wyndham Earner Business card:

Beginning February 1, 2025, Wyndham Rewards cardholders will no longer be able to match their Wyndham Rewards PLATINUM and DIAMOND Member Level obtained as a result of being a cardholder (as opposed to earning their member level through stays) into the Caesars Rewards program.

This does mean that earning the status the old fashioned way with Wyndham will still work though. I am not sure if many out there put their head in Wyndham beds 40 nights a year though.

Why This Change Matters

In the past you could earn Wyndham Diamond just for holding the Wyndham Earner Business card, which has a $95 annual fee. You could then match that over to Caesars Diamond and get all of the perks that come with that. Things like a $100 celebration dinner for “earning” Diamond status, waived resort fees, a trip to Atlantis Bahamas and line cutting perks.

Once you had Caesars Diamond status you could match to other casino statuses in Atlantic City and Las Vegas. This would give you other perks, and even sometimes open up free cruises.

Caesars has been trying to downgrade people that match into their status for close to a decade now. They even added new tiers to their Diamond level, solely to block free access to their lounges for status matchers. That was short lived since they ended up closing their lounges in Vegas a few years later, screwing over all Diamond members with the change. Caesars also made it so that some matched members had to earn points in the program before unlocking the celebration dinner. This was a way to play gotcha with some status matchers who didn't understand the rules. It was always obvious that Caesars Rewards intended to purge freeloaders from the books.

Transfers Between The Programs Lowered As Well

Another negative change was buried in the the Wyndham to Caesars status match terms for points transfers. They are reducing the yearly cap from 60,000 back down to 30,000 each calendar year in a few months. It was at 30,000 for years, until they recently doubled it. It looks like they received more action from it than they wanted, and they are chopping it down once again.

Transferring points between Caesars and Wyndham is a way to get a guaranteed one cent per Wyndham point in the Caesars Rewards program. That comes in handy if you don't really value Wyndham's hotel program overall. You could also turn your Caesars Rewards points into valuable hotel points when cash rates were inflated. That would allow you to get over 1 cent per point at times. The ability to transfer raises the floor, and the potential ceiling, for both of these points.

The downside to the transfers is that they need to be done in 10,000 point chunks. It would be nice if they allowed 1,000 point chunks instead, like most every other transfer does.

Are There Any Options Left?

There are no guaranteed ways left to earn Caesars Rewards Diamond status. The lone easy way left to get the status is probably FoundersCard. This is a program meant for entrepreneurs and business owners. It comes with some perks that can be helpful for business owners. One of those perks is getting Caesars Diamond status. This partnership needs to be renewed each year by Founderscard, and it was delayed this past year, so there is no guarantee you get it next year. I imagine Caesars gets a cut of the $300+ FoundersCard membership fee to be involved with it, so it may hang around. It is probably prudent to wait until next March to see how all of that shakes out before signing up if interested. Otherwise, you may be paying $300 for just a few months of Caesars Diamond status.

Wyndham To Caesars Status Match Ends For Cardholders: ToP Thoughts

While I think the Wyndham to Caesars status match had lost much of its luster over the years, it was still popular among those in the know. Being able to turn a $95 credit card annual fee into a free dinner, waived resort fees and free trips offered a lot of value. That was if you were willing to do the legwork at least. Many people did it just for the $100 celebration dinner each year, which isn't a massive loss overall.
