The sale should make some flights to Europe pretty affordable on points, at least if you are okay with economy. The award taxes and fees can be high on Virgin Atlantic award bookings, but they are usually a bit more reasonable for economy awards when compared to business class awards. This could be a really good opportunity for people on the East Coast, where the flights are not too long and they have some good non-stop options.

Here are some notable terms for the Virgin Atlantic economy sale:
- Offer valid for new reward seats, upgrades and companion bookings (economy classic
seats only) booked using Virgin Points between 00:01 GMT 13th September 2024 and
23:59 GMT 17th September 2024. All flight departures, including returns, must be on or
before 31st December 2024. - A 25% reduction will be applied at the time of booking to the Virgin Points price of all
redemption bookings booked between 13th September 2024 – 17th September 2024. - This offer is for Virgin Atlantic reward flight, upgrades, and companion bookings
(including those earned on Virgin Atlantic Credit Cards) for one-way or return flights in
economy cabin only. Bookings in economy must be for travel in the Economy Classic
category. - Discount is not valid on Gold Reward flight bookings (reward flight bookings booked
with double points) or Points Plus Money bookings. - Valid on Virgin Atlantic designated flights that are Virgin Atlantic marketed and
operated routes only (flight number starts with VS). Partner airline and codeshare flights
are not eligible. - To be eligible for this offer, members must book a new reward flight, upgrade or
companion booking through virginatlantic.com or Virgin Atlantic Customer Centre. - Existing bookings changed within the promotional booking period will be eligible for this
offer and any reduction in the points price will be credited back to the member’s

25% Off Virgin Atlantic Economy Awards: ToP Thoughts
Depending on the route, and time of year, these flights could be pretty cheap award bookings. You are looking at below well 10,000 points one way for some routes after taking into account the 25% reduction in cost. The problem is the taxes and fees are going to still be several hundred dollars on round-trip bookings. It could be a cheap way to get some economy flights to Europe though. Be sure to compare the sale cost to straight cash prices of other airlines before booking though. I look at these awards like the points are a discount on the cash price, assuming there is a savings when including the taxes and fees.
