With only five weeks to go till the kickoff of the FIFA World Cup, the tourism boost is so far not living up to the hype. U.S. hotel reservations are falling short of original forecasts at nearly 80% of hotels in 11 host cities. Some are going as far as to call it a “non-event.” Cue the grimace emoji. The numbers were tracked in an American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) survey of members published this week.
JetBlue Aiming To Fill The Hole Spirit Left At FLL — The Points Guy
RIP, Spirit Airlines. Fort Lauderdale was the late airline's largest market, and JetBlue is swiftly stepping in to cover some of the routes it left behind there. Starting in July, the carrier will add 11 new routes from the airport, including CLT, ORD, DTW, PSE, BNA and others. South Florida is an area of interest for JetBlue, which plans to grow its FLL presence to the size of its BOS base. The Escape Lounge at PDX has dubbed “The Lounge of the Year.” It's lauded for its food and beverage menu featuring local ingredients and regional-inspired design and artwork. Effective today, British Airways is removing fabric headrest covers from intra-Europe business class. The move aims to shorten cleaning times and ultimately reduce delays. But as Gary Leff puts it, this is a cut to the “last hint of luxury” on these seats.
