ToP Roundup

In this series I will share articles I found interesting from all over the web. These will be articles about miles, points, travel, finance and everything in-between. Hopefully this ToP Roundup series will give you some interesting tidbits and new information you may have missed during the week. If you see anything out there that you think others may find of interest please feel free to share it with me at Mark@travel-on-points.com.

Preferred Hotels & Resorts Devaluation: Top Rate Hits 87K Choice Hotels Points / Night (Previously 55K) – Travel with Grant

Choice Hotels is a severely undervalued program in my opinion, especially with the 2 to 1 ThankYou point transfer rate. I mean, just look at those nutty sports packages. One of the under the radar uses of their points are the preferred hotels & resorts, which makes this change a bit harder to take.

Opinion: Delta is Making A Huge Mistake Not Allowing Rollover Medallion Qualifying Dollars (MQD) – Eye of the Flyer

I didn't understand the thinking in a lot of the Delta changes. You never want to encourage people to stop spending and that is exactly what they did. Hyatt, on the other hand, added a whole bunch of new perks for their most loyal customers to encourage people to stay on the hamster wheel. That is the point of loyalty programs after all, isn't it? Delta seems to have lost that memo.

Insane Hotel Room Hack, Chase Offers Ending Soon, Mark's New Favorite Hilton & Universal VIP! – 20 Minute Travel

Our latest episode goes over a lot of good stuff including a crazy hotel door lock hack. I will likely do a write up on the Universal VIP experience too.
