ToggleHotel Award Nights through the Bilt App
Bilt launched a new feature in the Bilt app that lets you search and price award availability at Hyatt and IHG properties (Bilt's two hotel transfer partners). Through this feature, Bilt has integrated the Awayz.com award search engine directly into the Bilt app.
Bilt users can conduct up to 50 monthly hotel award searches for free. Once you meet the cap, you will be able to subscribe to Awayz for additional searches.
Here are the instructions to search for Hyatt availability through Bilt:
- Head to the Hotels section of the ‘Travel’ tab in the Bilt app
- Select ‘Transfer Partners’ at the top and search for award nights by destination or hotel name
- In seconds you’ll see award availability across all our hotel partners
- Filter the results by distance, cost in points, or hotel star rating
- Select the hotel you want to book with Bilt Points and see which rooms are available using points. You can even pull up an entire 12 months' worth of award availability with the handy calendar view.
- Once you find a room you like, transfer your Bilt Points to either Hyatt or IHG and book directly with the hotel.
Why this New Feature is So Good
For all of the World of Hyatt benefits, the Hyatt website can be challenging when it comes to finding award availability. This is because Hyatt has 3 rates for any given room (off peak, standard, and peak), and the price estimate you see when searching for availability just shows you the cost of the first night.
Hyatt does offer a calendar search where you can see which nights are off peak, standard, and peak. But this calendar search does not show actual award availability. So you have to conduct two separate searches–one to determine whether a room is available on points for your dates, and a separate search to discover how much the room will cost for your stay.
But with Bilt's new feature, you can check actual award availability and the points cost per night, all in the same screen.
The search results are easy to understand. First, you see the total points required for your dates and even the lowest nightly rate. If you scroll further down, you see the calendar search, which is very intuitive. Dates in black have availability while dates that are grayed out do not. Off peak prices are colored light green, standard nights are black, and peak nights are red.
It appears that this search function is limited to searching standard room availability and does not work for suites as of now.
