Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card Review

The Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card is as simple as it gets when it comes to earning and benefits. Like much of Capital One's card line-up, this card is very straightforward and easy to use. If you're looking to earn cash back with a card that you can “set it and forget it,” then the Quicksilver card can make sense for you. In our Capital One Quicksilver Credit Card review, we take a look at the current welcome offer, card perks, earning structure and share our overall thoughts.

The Capital One Quicksilver card credit card currently has the following welcome offer:

  • Enjoy a one-time bonus of $200 cash back after you spend $500 on purchases within 3 months from account opening.
  • The card does not have an annual fee.

Capital One Application Rules

Here are the Capital One applications rules you should be aware of from our guide to application rules for all the major banks. To be fair though, everything seems to be very your mileage may vary these days. Because of that these are what the rules usually follow, but not always.

Capital One generally will only approve you for one card every six months. This rule applies to both personal and business cards, meaning you cannot open a personal card and a business card within six months of each other.

We should also note that this card is best to get once you are over Chase 5/24.

Earning Rate

The Capital One Quicksilver‘s earning structure is simple: unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase. The card also earns 5% cash back on hotels and rental cars booked through the Capital One Travel portal. Cash back rewards never expire.

Capital One Quicksilver Credit Card Review: Card Benefits

As expected for a card without an annual fee, the Capital One Quicksilver credit card offers very few significant benefits. But the card does offer extended warranty protection and does not charge foreign transaction fees.

Quicksilver Card Review: ToP Analysis

The Quicksilver card is as straightforward as it gets, offering unlimited 1.5% cash back across all purchases with no annual fee. This makes the card a good option for those looking for cash back without having to keep track of bonus categories.

Those who value transferable points over cash back should know that you can convert your cash back rewards to miles with the right card in your wallet. You can then transfer those miles to Capital One's valuable transfer partners, which will help you get much more value for your rewards. To do all this, you need to have a miles-earning card, such as the Capital One Venture X or Capital One Venture X Business.

The ability to convert cash back rewards into transferable miles may sound great. But the Capital One Venture X card already earns 2x on every purchase. As such, there is no reason to swipe a Quicksilver card when you already hold a Venture X, unless your goal is to earn cash back.

As far as cash back goes without an annual fee, the Quicksilver card is one of Capital One's best offers. Capital One does offer other cash back cards, such as the Capital One Spark Cash Plus, which earns 2% on all purchases but has a $150 annual fee. Also, folks can do a lot better by looking outside of Capital One, such as with the likes of a Citi Double Cash.

Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card Review: ToP Thoughts

The Capital One Quicksilver card is a no-frills card that earns unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase and does not have an annual fee. This makes the card a good option for those pursuing a cash back option without wanting to pay an annual fee or keep track of bonus categories. Sure, that cash back can convert to miles when paired with the right card, but Capital One's miles-earning cards all have comparable or better earning structures.
