$100 Discover Checking Bonus
There is a nice little win available with the currently increased $100 Discover checking bonus offer. One thing about this offer that may give people pause is that the bonus comes via the way of Swagbucks. I have talked about Swagbucks in the past as a way to rack up some free spend when the points are on sale. If you already have a Swagbucks account set up from that then this should be an easy win. If you don't already have an account, and would like to partake in this deal and others, then here is our Swagbucks referral. Thanks in advance if you choose to support us by using it. Let's dive into the details of this offer.

ToggleUpdate 1/24/24:
When doing my bank bonus results from 2023 post I realized I had not updated you all on this one like I promised. If you remember my wife's Discover bonus showed as tracking right away on Swagbucks, but mine did not. I ended up getting them to post the points as a “courtesy”. Initially I reached out after a week, and then several times after. They were pretty unresponsive but did finally come back after my fifth message to say give it the full 30 days and then reach out. I know this was dumb because if it wasn't already tracking it never would be. Probably a delay tactic hoping I would give up. A few weeks after 30 days I reached out again and they were quick to credit my account (within a day or two). That was also team member Staci's experience as well.

What Are Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a website but it is also a currency. When you complete tasks on the site you earn Swagbucks. These are worth at least 1 cent a piece and can be redeemed towards 3rd party gift card, virtual Visa gift cards and even PayPal cash outs. I say they are worth at least 1 cent a piece because once a month you can redeem 2,200 Swagbucks towards a $25 gift card, making them worth 1.14 cents each for those redemptions. This works on the virtual Visa cards, as well as, popular brands like Amazon. They will also run sales on different brands sometimes giving you a chance to cash out at rates better than 1 cent. Home Depot cards were one such example.
My Experience & Potential Swagbucks Shortfalls
I decided to jump on this offer for myself and my wife. Some people have had bad experiences with Swagbucks not tracking in the past, but I have been pretty lucky over the years. I have only had one offer not track and they were able to make it right after I filed a claim. That was the one time it didn't track, until now. Well, at least so far.
The sign up process was fairly easy and it took only a couple of minutes to get through everything. It may have helped that I already have a Discover account set up thanks to my Discover credit card and savings account (from their bonus offer). I was able to open the account and start the transfer from my already linked bank account within five minutes.
Issues With Initial Deposit
The process was a bit more tedious for my wife, at least on the depositing part of it. The account opened within a few minutes, just like mine, but we kept getting an error when we tried to do the initial transfer. This is when I faintly remembered some issues moving money out of her savings account. I ended up having to pull the money from an outside account versus pushing it from Discover. After a phone call into customer service, and a few long holds, we were able to get it right. A checking account had been added to her Discover profile years ago where I was the primary on the bank account and that jammed up the entire system. Once they removed the checking account from her profile we were good to go on transfers.
Points Post For One Of Two
The next morning I woke up and checked both Swagbucks accounts. I knew that the points wouldn't show as pending instantly, as some offers do, and that it could take several hours to post. From reports, most people see the pending points show after around 2 – 5 hours. The points were properly showing as pending on my wife's Swagbucks account but not on mine. I am going to give it a few more days before I get worried. There are reports of it taking up to two days and I can't file a claim until 7 days anyway. I did check my Discover account to make sure the email used there matched my Swagbucks account, and it did. This is the most common issue with these offers.
$100 Discover Checking Bonus: ToP Thoughts
While I may need to spend some time fighting for my $100 Discover checking bonus, I still think it will be worth it overall. Even if I decide it isn't worth chasing down I am happy to get $100 worth of Swagbucks for around 10 minutes of work across both accounts. If you go after this one hopefully yours tracks without issue. Remember to use a clean browser and make sure your emails match. Also, don't panic until it has been several days without your points posting as pending. Even then, Swagbucks is usually decent about getting offers handled when issues arise.
If you don't already have a Swagbucks account you can use our referral to sign up for an account HERE. Thanks in advance if you use it!
