In our weekly #ThriftyThursday series, we talk about stacking and using apps to earn more. This time we have another credit card-linked cashback app for you with Payce. I have a love/hate relationship with Payce, but it has brought me free money, which I certainly love.

What is Payce

Payce is a rewards program that helps you earn cash back on your everyday spending with hundreds of participating merchants. You earn cash back on online purchases by logging in and linking from the Payce mobile app or website to the merchant's site to shop, similar to many other portals.

Additionally, you can earn cash back on in-store purchases by activating merchant rewards, which are refreshed on a monthly basis. Just pay with a card you have linked to Payce.

Payce pays out every month when you have earned $10 or more of posted funds. The funds are direct deposited to your bank account.

Using Payce

You start by simply downloading the mobile app and signing up using our link here.

One downside is you must link your credit cards manually. Although a bit time consuming, I find it best to do it all at once in the beginning, so you do not miss out on any cash back. I typically link all my main everyday spending cards that I carry in my wallet. I find it easy to add or remove cards.

After adding your cards, you can browse deals and activate which ones you want. Using the “activate all” feature makes it easy to not miss a deal. Then, just shop the deals you want and wait for the purchase to track and go to pending status.

Lastly, I like the ability to see how far away an offer or store is through the app, which lists all the store locations. It also includes directions to the store if you need them. This makes it easy to use when traveling.

Analysis

First, I am going to start with the biggest negative with Payce. The amount of time it takes the money to go from pending to paid in your account is excruciating. That being said, when it comes to these apps and websites, I do not depend on the cash back for my budget; I simply want them to be reliable.  It takes me very little time to activate all the offers, so any money I earn is a win in my book.

I took a long trial with this app to see some payouts, which are coming in now. Now that I am using it on a regular basis I have some funds trickling in every month, which is nice. The payouts have had no issues and most of my purchases seem to track. I am not sure I would spend too much time fighting over a purchase unless a it is large one.

Final Thoughts

I always recommend diversifying among the various apps and portals. This allows you sometimes double up or stack your savings, in addition to the potential for more cash . Payce is simple and easy to use, since it only requires you to link your credit cards and activate new offers every month. The app may not be the fastest to pay up or the most accurate in tracking purchases, but it is free money in my pocket, which I am happy about. Be sure to check out our articles on other money-saving apps and sites like Dosh, Ibotta, Groupon, and Fetch.
