Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Quick Thoughts
We wanted to start up a new series called quick thoughts for mini property reviews. These are to pair up with ToP team member more in depth Facebook Group posted reviews. We figure these write ups would give you a little more detail outside of the ToP Facebook Group review, would be a bit easier to find if you want to come back to it and give you a more well rounded view of the property. The first one up is Ben's 6 quick thoughts on Park Hyatt Beaver Creek.

ToggleWhat Was The Cost Of Your Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Booking & Do You Think There Is Value In The Price?
The cost of the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek is 45,000 World of Hyatt points a night. We stayed for a total of 3 nights, which cost us 135,000 World of Hyatt points when it is all said and done.
Cash price is $2,000 per night in peak skiing dates so around 4 cents per point. I think value is in the eye of the beholder – level setting expectations prior to visiting is key. Do not go expecting a Park Hyatt Vienna experience or property. This is akin to a Hyatt Regency that offers some bells and whistles for ski in ski out trips – just under the Park Hyatt moniker. If you go in with the correct expectations you’ll be pleased with value every time. If not, you will be sorely let down.

Share Some Thoughts On Your Room: What Did You Like About It & What Could Be Improved?
The first room we stayed in was a suite (only available first night but we wanted to try a suite so we agreed to move rooms). It had a lovely fireplace, which compliments a ski trip well. I will say that the rooms were a bit dated, including old wall paper and some older touches. That was a bit unexpected with it being a Park Hyatt and for it costing this many points a night.
We did notice that the bathroom in the suite was fully renovated and new, while the bathroom is our standard room was not. That suggests the property is a mix of renovated and non renovated rooms at this time. I’d try to get in a room with a renovated bathroom if possible. Our standard room had views of the ski lifts which was fun to watch. The rooms as a whole need some TLC though. Especially at these prices.

Highlight Some Of The Better Amenities The Property Offers & Is It Missing Anything Important?
The property comes with 6 outdoor hot tubs, which is clutch for a ski resort. It made for a pleasant experience since they never got crowded, and often you get the entire thing to yourself. The Park Hyatt Beaver Creek also has a full sized gym and spa (with steam room and sauna for guest use) to give it a proper resort vacation feel.
We also loved the ski concierge as a fantastic perk to be able to leave the gear frustration to others to deal with, and spend more time skiing and less time fussing with our stuff. They take your skis from valet and store them for you outside, and put your boots on heating tubes so they come to you warm and ready at dawn. The lobby bar was always poppin' and they did fun activities such as free daily smores or tequila tastings. They even have a house car that could take you into town if the concierge has time to drive you.
In terms of a ski resort, I don't think it was really missing anything important.
What Was Your Favorite Thing About The Property?
My favorite thing about the property was the slope side property you can book on World of Hyatt points. Those are few and far between these days since Hyatt pulled most of their condos you could book on points last year. Skiing is an expensive sport, and having ski in / ski out properties you can book on points is a treat. One that you can get over 2 cent per point return is even more rare.
We equally enjoyed the breakfast spread, which was both delicious and efficient. We’d quickly hop down before skiing to eat self served avocado toast, omelets, and other delicious treats.

What Was Your Least Favorite Thing About The Property?
My least favorite thing about the property was that the Park Hyatt brand isn’t really felt here at Beaver Creek. It’s more of a Hyatt Regency that they slapped the Park Hyatt name on. It actually used to be a Hyatt Regency many years ago, so this fits. You don’t go here to have Park Hyatt level service / amenities. You come for a slightly more upscale Hyatt Regency with ski in / out privileges. It is a shame they use it to price it higher, although that could be just the location and access alone.
Would You Stay At The Property Again?
Yes and no. Yes, for the privilege to ski in / out, but with the knowledge that it’s not going to be super luxurious. No, because the points price at 45,000 per night is quite high, and burning a whole in your points when you’re going to ski the day away is excessive.

Hopefully you found these 6 quick thoughts on the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek useful. Be sure to check out the more in depth property review over in the ToP Facebook Group as well. Overall, it is a really great ski resort, with some excellent property perks for skiers, but it does not live up to the Park Hyatt name or nightly costs.
