Maui Relief Donations
We have all seen the horrifying pictures and videos from the Maui wildfires. It has devastated the area, taken lives, homes and a town that many travelers hold dear to their heart. I know that many people are looking for a way to help out and an option for donation to the relief efforts etc. ToP Facebook Group member Holly alerted us to an offer / partnership that American Airlines has with the Red Cross to help with their efforts in Maui.
8/27/23 Update: The miles are posting from these donations. Check your accounts, however, as I was only awarded 5x miles and not 10x. I have followed-up with both American and the American Red Cross.

They are offering 10X American Airlines AAdvantage miles per dollar for all donations over $25. If you were going to donate to Red Cross anyway, or were looking for a good option to donate to, this is a nice side benefit. At 10 cents per mile it isn't worth doing just for the miles, but it is good to get something back for your donation. Kudos to American Airlines for offering it (as they often do in situations like this). It should be noted that these will not earn any points towards status.
Here is what it says on the American Airlines Red Cross donation page:
Join us in supporting the American Red Cross.
Help people affected by the Hawaii wildfires. Your donation enables the Red Cross to prepare for, respond to and help people recover from these disasters.
Through August 31 AAdvantage® members can earn 10 AAdvantage® bonus miles for every dollar donated to the Red Cross with a minimum $25 donation.
American Airlines is proud to be a member of the Annual Disaster Giving Program with the American Red Cross. Donations through this site will help to provide relief and hope during disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires and disasters big and small.

If you have more airline miles than money, you can donate those instead to help with their efforts. More information on that here.
