Southwest Companion Pass After One Flight: ToP Thoughts
If you have a flight with a friend or family member from 1/6/25 – 3/6/25, and could find a flight that is substantially cheaper than that companion flight during the promotion period, then this could be worth chasing. There are risks that there are no seats to book your companion once you get the pass so I wouldn't cancel the flight you have booked for them just yet. You could end up wasting the money on the flight you book this year chasing the free flight next year if everything doesn't line up just right.
If you have a flight on another airline that would work for earning this limited time Companion Pass then it may be worth double checking if Southwest could work for your needs. That is as long as the cost isn't more, or flight route more time consuming, then it may be worth switching it up. If you have a flight already booked on Southwest during the promotion then check and see if you can cancel and rebook for the same price (or hopefully less) to take advantage of the promo.
If you don't match up with any of those scenarios then you can let this one pass you by. I did it last year, since I had a Southwest flight booking I needed to make anyway, and never used the Companion Pass I was given. I feel like that is what happens with most people on these promotions though.
