Etihad Awards Bookable Online with American Airlines

This quick tip comes to you hot off the presses. Rumors are swirling that Etihad Airways awards are bookable online with American Airlines miles. So ToP went to confirm. Not only is this true, but there is more good news: Etihad awards are wide-open in 2024.

Searching & Booking on American Airlines' Website

Etihad Airways sometimes appears in search results on American Airlines' website. Although it has happened in the past, Etihad has not appeared recently. That changed today. Not only are awards appearing in search results, but you can confirm this space and book it online. There is no longer a need to confirm space elsewhere and call AA to book! I personally searched and found space appearing on aa.com. While folks are saying they are not able to ticket these flights, I had no issues. I am confirmed in First Class from Abu Dhabi to Washington, D.C. in 2024.

Test Booking — Etihad First Class bookable with 115,000 AA miles and $50.05

Within 5 minutes, my booking was confirmed. I then confirmed the booking on Etihad's website. I am confirmed in First Class.

Lastly, I made sure I could select seats onboard the Etihad 787 aircraft. That, too, was successful!

Wide-Open Award Availability

But wait, there's mooooooooooore. Not only can you book Etihad awards online with American Airlines, but there is wide-open award availability! In January-March, 2024 (and possibly more) there is wide-open space between Abu Dhabi and Washington, D.C. in business class.

A word of caution here: many of these days would error out before the booking screen. It is likely that some of these are phantom space. But many will ticket and are available, some days with 4+ tickets. I also saw lots of space between Abu Dhabi and London. Search any and all routes to/from Abu Dhabi and book fast.

In addition to the business class space, there are tons of seats available between Abu Dhabi and Washington, D.C. in First Class for 2024. Like earlier, you can transit via London and arrive in the USA, too. The LHR route has an A380 with true world-class experiences aboard!
