Walmart Chase Offer

Last week we shared with you that there was a new Walmart Chase Offer that offers a chance to save 10% at Walmart. It is tough to find discounts at Walmart, or Sam’s Club, so this presented a nice opportunity. The catch was that it is for only for Walmart Online purchases and couldn’t be used in store. That meant a lot of people probably didn’t give it a second thought and decided to just move on. I am here to say, don’t give up yet though!

Michael B. in the ToP Facebook Group tried buying a Walmart gift card online. He reported back a few days later that it triggered the credit. The key is that he purchased the physical version. We are not sure if e-gift cards work to credit it to but it looks like it settles differently on people’s Chase card. Reports from past deals say virtual Walmart gift cards didn’t work too, but we have a positive data point this time around. Appears to be YMMV. There were some reports that 3rd party virtual gift cards did trigger the credit during past deals though. We can say for sure that a physical Walmart one should work so that is what I plan on ordering myself.

What Works?

• Physical Walmart gift cards have been reported as triggering the credit
• It appears Walmart virtual / e-gift cards have not triggered the credit in the past. But we have a positive DP that it worked this time around.
• There are some previous data points of 3rd party gift cards working but nothing recent so YMMV

This gives you a chance to easily lock in the 10% discount even if you don’t have a plan to shop at Walmart over the next few weeks. Just purchase a $130 physical Walmart gift card and have it mailed to you for free. The nice thing is you can use the Walmart gift card at Sam’s Club too.

I am going to lock this discount so I can use it in store over time versus trying to buy something online to make it work.
