The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express Review

card_name is an excellent everyday spend business card. The card has a simple earning structure, no annual fee, and limited benefits. The Blue Business Plus is as simple as it gets, but we at ToP view it as a keeper card. In our Blue Business® Plus Credit Card review we will look at the card's welcome offer, benefits, earning structure and share our overall thoughts.

Current Welcome Offer

card_name comes with the following welcome offer:

Amex Application Rules

If you choose to apply, remember that Amex typically will not approve you for more than two Amex credit cards during a 90-day period. They also have a limit of 5 credit cards per person, of which this is one. There is also a 10 card limit on the colored Membership Rewards earning cards (of which this is not one of).

Amex also has a once per lifetime welcome offer rule on each card. This is more like every 5 – 7 years in reality though, and not actually your lifetime. That timeline is based off of when you last held a card, not when you last earned a welcome offer on the product though. If you are ineligible for the welcome offer for any reason American Express will usually let you know that with a pop-up before the application is processed. You can cancel the application at this time with no hard pull.

Blue Business® Plus Credit Card Review: Earning Structure

card_name comes with the following earning structure:

  • 2x Membership Rewards points per dollar on every eligible everyday business purchases for the first $50,000 in purchases per calendar year, regardless of spend category.
  • 1x Membership Rewards points per dollar on every eligible business purchase above $50,000 each calendar year

Blue Business Plus Card Benefits

With no annual fee, it's no surprise that card_name lacks major benefits:

  • Extended warranty and purchase protection as benefits.

Blue Business® Plus Credit Card Review

ToP Analysis

card_name is a no-brainer and a keeper card for most folks. The Blue Business Plus is the best card for earning Membership Rewards on everyday spend since no other Amex card earns 2x MRs on all purchases. The lack of an annual fee makes this card even better.

The fact that the points earned by the card are fully transferrable, without the need to carry a premium Membership Rewards card, sets this apart. It is an area where Amex is far ahead of the competition. Both Citi and Chase require you to carry a card with an annual fee to unlock transfers on their no fee cards.

This is a good card for any business owner that wants simplicity but also a good return. The fact that the points are transferrable makes it better than a simple 2% cash back card. But, once you hit the $50,000 earning cap each year it is best to look elsewhere with your spend.

Blue Business® Plus Credit Card Review: ToP Thoughts

card_name is a great addition to anyone's wallet. A no annual fee card that earns 2x Membership Rewards on everyday spend is a no-brainer. Whenever you're not meeting minimum spend on a new card, you should consider putting your everyday purchases on the Blue Business Plus. You can combine this high-earning everyday card with other American Express cards to maximize spending and earning.
