Office Depot Chase Offer

Yesterday when checking my cards the new Southwest Chase Offer I noticed that the Office Depot Chase Offer returned on a few of my cards. This is paired perfectly with the current Office Depot Mastercard deal (which ends today). That is if you get it on the right card, but more on that in a bit.

Details Of The Offer

  • Earn 10% back on your purchase at Office Depot / Max as a statement credit
  • Up to $11 back
  • Expires 2/28/23

You can pair this up with Do$h as well (Do$h guide), if your account is still targeted for it. Here is our referral for the program if you don't have a Do$h account yet.

Office Depot Chase Offer

Why Using This Deal On The $15 Off $300 Offer Isn't The Best

I know getting a discount on something makes us automatically think it is the best offer, it is human nature. I want to hit the pause button with this one though. If you don't have a Chase Ink Cash and want to rack up the spend on a card with a spending bonus, like the World of Hyatt card then go for it. But if you have an Ink Cash, and have the offer on another Chase card, you still want to use the Ink Cash for these $15 off deals.

If you use the Ink Cash and earn 5X points on that $400 in spend, for 2 X $200 cards, you would earn 2000 Ultimate Rewards. If we value those at 1.5 cents per point that is a return of $30 (2000 X $0.015). Let's say you put that same spend on a card with this offer that earns 1 or 1.5 times, then you would net significantly less than that. Even with the best alternative, the Ink Unlimited or Freedom Unlimited, you would get 600 points worth $9. Add in the $11 discount on top of that and you are only at $20, well below the multiplier of the Ink Cash.

What I would do if I had this on non Chase Ink Cash cards (or Ink+) is use it to buy 3rd party gift cards, like BP gas cards etc. If you bought $100 worth you would get $10 in credit plus 150 points, worth $2.25, for a total discount of $12.25. If you put that same $100 on the Ink Cash you would earn 500 points worth $7.50, a significant drop from the $12.25. Do this deal a few times and then you can live off of gift cards for a month like me!

Office Depot Chase Offer: ToP Thoughts

Hopefully you all got this offer on your Chase Ink Cash (or discontinued Ink+) so that you can stack the deals. If not, and you have an Ink Cash, DO NOT put the spend on cards with this offer. Focus on getting 10% off 3rd party gift cards instead.

Also remember to pair this offer up with Do$h too for a triple dip if you have it on your account. Here is our referral if you don't have the program.

This is the first go around that I don't have it on my Ink+ card, which makes me a little sad. Hopefully you guys are luckier.
